Never Have I Ever…read a later book in a series before reading the first book

Not if the books have to be read in a certain order! I’ve only read installments out of order that are standalones, such as the stories from Disney’s Twisted Tales series.

Never Have I Ever…burned a book

I’d rather take a shower in ice cold water than burn a precious book.

Never Have I Ever…read a book I knew I would hate

I don’t read books I think I will hate. No sense in getting my blood pressure up. That being said, I don’t think I am an overly critical reader.

Never Have I Ever…wrote a fanfiction about my favorite books

I used to write short stories set in the Harry Potter world to test out my writing style. In fact, I still have some of my work from 2008 sitting on my laptop! I’m scared to open my fanfiction vault.

…On second thought, let’s be bold and daring like those mischievous Marauders! *bats some moths away* I found a 100-word drabble from 2009 (has it really been that long?!). It shows Lily and the Marauders at school:

“Say, what does the J stand for in your name, Remus?” asks Peter.

“It’s rather atrocious, I assure you.”

Sirius snickers. “Have I ever lied to you?” Remus questions.

James coughs out something that sounds like “furry little problem.” Others wonder how he could possibly have hairballs.

“That doesn’t count,” Remus says, not even bothering to hide the darkness in his tone.

“Something atrocious that starts with a J?” Lily suddenly asks. Remus nods his head, playing along.

Lily is thoughtful but then her lips form into a grin to rival that of James or Sirius.

“It’s James, isn’t it?”

How many of you Harry Potter fans remember Remus’s actual middle name? Back on topic, it’s a bit unsettling to look at things you wrote ages ago. 😅

Never Have I Ever…loved a book when I was young, yet hated it when I got older

The reasons why I loved a story as a child still resonate with me as an adult, so I could never hate a childhood favorite.

Never Have I Ever…dressed up as one of my favorite literary characters

At school we had to dress up as one of our favorite fictional characters, so I chose Cara from Bruce Coville’s Into the Land of the Unicorns. I also have a Gryffindor cardigan like the ones the students wore in the movies.

The deer clutch doesn’t really go, but I guess I can pretend it’s a certain someone’s Patronus. 🥺

Never Have I Ever…hated a book by an author I love

I don’t think I have.

Never Have I Ever…gone into a bookstore to buy one book and came out with many more

I don’t want to answer this question. Can I speak to an attorney first? 😜

Never Have I Ever…read the ending of a book before reading the beginning

The journey is just as important as the destination.

Never Have I Ever…read a book without the dust cover

Most of my books are on the Kindle nowadays because I lack the room for new books. Still, I think I’ve read all physical copies with the dust cover on.

Never Have I Ever…skim read nearly half a book

I don’t skim in case I miss out on important details. I’m a fast reader anyway.

Never Have I Ever….pretended to have read a book that I haven’t

Nah, I don’t see a need to pretend. Take reading at your own pace. Besides, I like discussing stories I’ve read in detail!

Never Have I Ever….saw the movie before the book

I saw The Princess Diaries and part of The Maze Runner without knowing they were based off of books. I prefer to read the book first.

Never Have I Ever….read a book someone else is reading by peeking in their copy

Hmm. No, I haven’t. This seems pretty risky to me! Knowledge is a weapon in the hands of the wise. So is a hardback book in the hands of the spooked.

Never Have I Ever…behaved liked a character from a book I read

Seeing how my favorite characters get themselves into all sorts of trouble…no, I haven’t.

My prompt: Never Have I Ever…fell asleep while reading a book.

I came pretty close to falling asleep while studying for exams in college, but, nope.

Tag! You’re it!:

Please check out these wonderful blogs! I have a lot of fun reading their posts.

No need to to do this tag if you don’t want to or have already.

Thanks for visiting, and happy reading!

  1. Thanks so much Noelle for doing this tag! I absolutely loved reading your answers🙂
P.S I’ve fell asleep lots of times while reading cause I read books before going to bed😴

    • It was my pleasure! Thanks again for tagging me. 🙂

I read before I go to bed too. Falling asleep while reading might be a way into that world through your dreams. Just don’t choose any dystopian/scary novels before bedtime if that’s the case! 😛
